"Even if you think you know what
you're doing, you will probably not know what could be doing. Open your mind
to many new thoughts as to absorb." Chris
"Knowledge is knowing not to know real."
Learning not to know seems ... paradoxical.
Whenever we learned how to learn, to develop a competence, skill or specific
knowledge. However, in these times of crisis, uncertainty and rapid change is
becoming more common to find in new situations not foreseen, for which we were
unprepared. May wonder, then, how to be prepared for what they do not know what
No longer enough just to learn to know a particular issue. We also learn not to
know. Learning not to know, has nothing to do with technical or specific
learning, but it has to do mainly with the development of attitudes, ways of
being and to enable us to move with agility, efficiency and welfare in a reality
ever changing and ever new. What can we do?
Passing of Arrogance to Humility: Recognize that we do not know. This
recognition is the first step to ready to learn. Nobody sets out to learn what
he thinks he knows. Recognize that we need the other. Get help, find someone who
will teach us, hear other points of view, accept what is different.
Shifting from mechanical to Creativity: Many of us associate with rote
learning, to study or gather information memory. Creative learning is when we
set out to discover the new, to invent new possibilities, to give each
experience the freshness of the unrepeatable.
Moving from Fear to Trust: If we punish mistakes, generate fear. If we
accept mistakes as part of learning, building trust. And trust is the
fundamental emotion that allows us to learn and move in the uncertain.
Moving from reactivity to proactivity: As human beings we are free to
choose how to respond to events before us. A reactive response arising from past
experiences and preconditions. Proactive action is a new action: is exercise the
power of interlayer between the event and our response, our capacity for
reflection and choice.
Learning not to know is to discover that "when nothing is certain, anything is
possible" is to recover the wonder and mystery in our eyes, give value to every
moment, every experience, every person, being unique and unrepeatable.
The excessive emphasis on competition is the
reason that is most important appear to be. But the fear of causing a bad
impression is one of the worst enemies of learning. Learning involves
recognizing that there are things that are ignored and activities that are not
mastered. However, in most companies ignorance is interpreted as a sign of
weakness and incompetence as default temporary.
I still make many errors. The challenge is not to avoid them, but learn from
them and then make another and keep learning. There is no reason to be ashamed
of making mistakes if we recognize and benefit from them.
Learning should be a lifelong process, not a process that ends when one achieves
some measure of recognition. When you think you know everything you need to
know, is unlikely to show truly meaningful creativity again.
Robert J. Sternberg.
If your mind is full of knowledge, you're always prepared for anything. If you
open as beginners, are available to all. In the minds of learners are the most
likely, in the experts mind there are few.
Learning is an experience that has life, breathing is an experience committed
heart and soul, with goals and high expectations.
Rules for Being Human
1. You will receive a body. You can love him or hate him, but this will be yours
for the rest of his life.
2. You will learn lessons. You are immersed in a full-time informal school
called "life". Every day in this school have the opportunity to learn lessons.
May want the lessons or think them irrelevant or stupid they are.
3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial and error,
experimental. The failed experiments are part of the process as the experiments
that ultimately work.
4. A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be presented to you in many
ways, until you learn it. When you really learn it, then you can proceed to the
5. Learning lessons does not end. No part of life that does not contain its
lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to learn.
6. "There" is no better than "here". When your "there" has begun to be a "here",
you simply obtain another "there" that again look better than your "here".
